Francesca Fryer is a printmaking and projection artist, originally from the Wirral, Merseyside, now based in Leeds. Her practice is often centred around the aesthetic of text as she explores ideas of language and communication, particularly in relation to acts of conversation.
As of recently she has begun to look at confusing text by jumbling and coding letters, playing with thoughts of miscommunication and barriers. This has taken a particular focus within the realm of religion and her own experience being raised Catholic.
In the making of her work, Francesca tends to put her efforts towards using processes that have some sort of repetitive and time-consuming aspects to them. This has motivated her towards the use of printmaking techniques, specifically with carving her own woodblock letters, which can be seen on display in the Sitting With It exhibition, alongside her other work.
